Weekly Progress Semester 2

Week 1: We are told of the due date for our behind the scenes, filming the scenes, and filming schedule. We are able to complete all our task except for our shooting since we had a hard time cooperating with each other as a group. So we had to reschedule everything. We also learned about Theory of Stardom In class by Richard Dyer where I learned that being a star is not on accident but is planted by the industry. I start to plan the shooting schedule and scrapped the entire music video.

Week 2:

This week we learned about the post - Colonialism theory , developed by Paul Gilmore which suggests how colonialism affected the way media portrays certain things such as how certain ethnicity and race is depicted. It leans towards favoring the majority ethnicity for the most part and is heavily biased towards those races. I also began to shoot our music video, and managed to finish both the shooting and editing in the span of a day.

Week 3:

We learned about theory of fandom by Jenkins and Shirkins  which explains the different stages of fandom  and how they behave towards the things they are a fan of. We also had a pop quiz about post colonialism theory where we had to write an essay about it. We planned on reshooting the music the week before and this week we did some reshoots to fix some of the bad lighting and we completed it in a few hours. All that’s left is to edit the video and work on our digitalis and social media.

Week 4:

We finalized everything in this week related to our music video project which includes the social media research, digipak, and the final music video. We were given feedbacks which we implemented in our music video. I finalized my editing and what's left to do is to finish my blog and my reflections.

Reflection:

Doing weekly progress is important as it tracks our progress of our media over the past few weeks and also keep track of what we have learned and also what we need to do.

Editing

This is the editing blog made by Jeremy

First Result:

This is the result of me filming and editing in the span of a day. I thought it was pretty decent but some of the scene color was washed so I had to go do some reshoot

Feedback From Mr Nick:

- Some of the scene lighting is too dark

- Some of the clips placements are too random

Second Improved Result (After Feedback)

Here I fixed some of the low lighting after reshoot, which I implemented after Mr Nick's advice.

Overall I would say it's a decent improvement from the first video, and I am satisfied

Some screenshots of the editing process:

Reflection: I had a lot of fun editing, it didn't take me long to finish editing the original video, however I felt like some of the scene's color were kinda off so as an idealist, I spent more time that I should sweating the small stuff. I also faced an issue with washed colors after exporting out of capcut which is a pain in the apps.

Classwork: Theory Of Stardom

This is my classwork Theory of Stardom

Reflection: This is a classwork we did during class about Theory Of Stardom, I chose to do research on Conor Mcgregor since I am a fan of him. It was enjoyable but had no use for our project, but it did give us a wider understanding on media.

Critical reflection

Intriduction: for my comp 3 our group was told to do a music promotion package to use the song Chambers Of Reflection by Your Anxiety Buddy...
